On the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Sisters of Life had the joy of welcoming six new novices! Fr. Solanus, C.F.R. presided as our new novices received their religious names and the holy habit. May Jesus, the Lord of Life, continue to bless these dear sisters as they continue to say, “yes!” to Him.

Sr. Pia Jude, SV, Sr. Mercy Marie, Sr. Theresa Francesca, Sr. Gemma Grace Marie, and Sr. Avelina Joseph, had the gift of bringing the Charism of Life to Alaska this summer. The five Sisters spent two weeks at St. Therese Camp, a Catholic camp for youth in Alaska. The Sisters joined the campers for prayer times and catechesis on what it means to abide in the Father’s Heart, played sports, enjoyed paddle boating on the lake, and much more. During the weekend between the weeks of Camp, the Sisters hosted a Young Women’s Retreat, with the theme Chosen. About 40 young women came from the Anchorage area and as far north as North Pole to be part of this grace-filled retreat, which included talks by the Sisters on prayer, trust, and the feminine genius; a vocations bonfire, where the Sisters each shared their vocation stories; and time with Our Lord in Holy Mass, Adoration, and Confession. The Sisters also had the opportunity to spend the day with a wonderful Catholic family, who took the Sisters out to experience the natural beauty of Alaska. They drove down the breathtaking coast of the Seward Highway, saw some Alaskan wildlife and visited a glacier! The Sisters enjoyed sharing the joy of the Gospel with each person they encountered. God truly blessed our time in Alaska!

We’ve have some beautiful celebrations at the Visitation Mission recently, including a double Baptism and two 1st birthday parties. Donte and his baby brother Justice received the gift of adoption as sons of God last month with some help from our friends the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. We celebrated the 1st birthday and 1st anniversary of Baptism of our ‘miracle baby’ Angel who has proved all her medical prognoses wrong, surrounded by her medical staff and prayer support. Finally, we saw the Culture of Life made visible, as all of the Co-Workers who supported baby Hunter’s mom Aleisha came together to celebrate the 1st birthday of our little princess!
