We’ve have some beautiful celebrations at the Visitation Mission recently, including a double Baptism and two 1st birthday parties. Donte and his baby brother Justice received the gift of adoption as sons of God last month with some help from our friends the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. We celebrated the 1st birthday and 1st anniversary of Baptism of our ‘miracle baby’ Angel who has proved all her medical prognoses wrong, surrounded by her medical staff and prayer support. Finally, we saw the Culture of Life made visible, as all of the Co-Workers who supported baby Hunter’s mom Aleisha came together to celebrate the 1st birthday of our little princess!

“I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (Jn. 8:12).

This verse was the theme of the Richmond Diocese’s SHINE Conference, where our sisters were invited to speak on how Christ is the Light of Life – the foundation of all other gifts. Our sisters joined about 150 parishioners from various parts of Virginia for the two-day conference, sponsored by the Office of Social Ministries.

On the drive down, Sr. Faustina and Sr. Maria Frassati stopped at DeSales University for an evening with the students at their campus ministry house and shared stories and conversation over ice cream.  The trip back included a visit with students at James Madison University, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, framed by the Blue Ridge Mountains, where our sisters spoke at evening Masses and later cheered on an Ultimate Frisbee game.
