Braving the blustering cold of Fargo, North Dakota, Sr. Therese Marie and Sr. Grace Dominic joined the students at North Dakota State University for Bison Catholic Week, Jan. 24-26, an event sponsored by St. Paul’s Catholic Newman Center. During the week of prayer, fellowship and conferences, the sisters shared the charism of life, met with students and gave an address to women on the feminine heart – and even got a sneak peak inside the Fargodome!

“We shall not weary, we shall not rest, as we stand guard at the entrance gates and the exit gates of life, and at every step along the way of life, bearing witness in word and deed to the dignity of the human person—of every human person.” These words of the late Father Richard Neuhaus rang true as hundreds of thousands, who came from far and wide, walked along Constitution Avenue in D.C. on January 27th to witness to the truth of the dignity of human life.

The days before and after the March were teeming with activities in which our sisters participated, including: an evening of prayer and fellowship at George Mason University, the Vigil for Life Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Life if Very Good Conference, Students for Life of America Conference, John Cardinal O’Connor Conference at Georgetown University, the Latinos Por la Vida Conference and a Day of Recollection at our convent in D.C.

Walk For Life – San Francisco

This January, Sisters of Life were delighted to share the charism of life with west-coasters, young and old, who joined together in peaceful prayer and witness at the Walk for Life, West Coast in San Francisco! While in the misty city, we participated in and hosted several events for the faithful of San Francisco, including the youth conference “YOU: Known from all Eternity”, the annual Prayer Vigil for Life hosted by our Sisters in conjunction with the Dominican Friars, Catholic Underground Bay Area, the Students for Life of America conference, and visits to local schools and parishes. Of course, our visit wasn’t complete until we enjoyed a ride on the iconic cable cars of San Francisco! Thank you to all who gave us such a warm welcome!

Sisters from our Denver mission had the delight of traveling to San Francisco on pilgrimage with students from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Catch a glimpse of their encounters in this video collage of the journey from Fr. Peter Mussett, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center chaplain:

Day of Life – St. Patrick’s, New York

On January 21st we hosted an event at St. Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate the gift of life. It was a beautiful day, full of many graces! We handed out 1,500 red roses to people inside and outside the Cathedral, encouraging them to bring the rose, with their prayer intentions, to Our Lady of Guadalupe – our Mother of Life. During the day there was such peace inside of the Cathedral, with our Sisters leading music while Jesus was being adored in the Eucharist. Many priests were hearing confessions at the same time – the grace was palpable! The day ended with a beautiful Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dolan.

Catholic New York wrote a beautiful article on the day. [Read the article here]
