Call Upon Mary

On May 13th, the 100th anniversary of the apparition of Mary in Fatima, Mother Agnes Mary, S.V. had the honor of delivering the commencement address to graduates of Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, CA. She called upon the 91 graduates to entrust their lives—and their dreams—to Mary, saying,

“There is no immutable destiny, either for individuals, nations or cultures. Mary exhorts us to call upon her to assist us in realizing God’s dreams for our lives and for the world… Graduates, dare to dream of living the high calling for which you were created as the central focus of your life. Every human life, as you know, is a question — as our Hoy father Pope John Paul II would put it — to which the assent and the gift of one’s love, given and received, totally and unreservedly, is the answer. Love is, therefore, the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being…”

Some of our Sisters rang in 2016 with about 800 university students in Montreal Quebec, singing, “You’re a good good Father…”

Rise Up is a conference for young adults (aged 18-35) hosted by Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO), a Canadian university student movement – but Rise Up is more than a conference. It exists to motivate and inspire leaders for the renewal of the world.

This year’s theme: “Made for Greatness”

Approximately 300 co-workers and friends of the Sisters of Life joined us for our yearly Advent Afternoon, this year held at St. Paul’s Basilica in Toronto. We enjoyed a beautiful celebration of the Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Peter Marr for the Third Sunday of Advent and gathered afterwards for food and fellowship in the hall below.  Sr. John Mary shared a beautiful reflection on Advent and the year of Mercy.  Our evening concluded with candles and songs of the season.
